National Museum of Costa Rica

National Museum of Costa Rica (Central and Second avenue, 17th street, on the Cuesta de Moras (Moras Hill), next to the Plaza de la Democracia, San Jose): the old Bellavista barracks, now the National Museum, houses natural history, Pre-Colonial gold, and autochthonous archaeological collections. Its walls contain more than 120 years of history where you can learn about the abolition of the military in 1948 and the inauguration, in 1910, of the national exhibition of herbs and its hundreds of collections.

Hours: from 8:30 a.m. at 4:30 p.m. (from Tuesday to Saturday), from 9:00 a.m. at 4:30 p.m. (Sunday). Closed on Mondays Admission: ¢ 1,500 (adult / local), free for local children under 12 and old. Free for all locals on Sunday. US $ 8 (all foreigners, except students with ID: US $ 4).
