Jacó Beach
Playa Jaco (Puntarenas province): this is the closest beach to San José (an hour drive from there), and is one of the most visited coastal areas in Costa Rica. The beach (4 km. long) also offers world class surfing, and water sports enthusiasts also show up here. There are also some surf shops, hotels and restaurants in the area (both for budget travelers and those with deeper pockets). Because of that area’s growing popularity, there is now some real estate development (with more huge towers and apartment complexes under construction or already opened).
